Assessing students in the classroom is very important. Consistently using formative and informative assessment to monitor student growth and knowledge is imperative. Formative assessment is measurable, and can be done in numerous ways, such as assignments, quizzes, and time of completion or repetitions completed in the PE class. Constant formative assessment allows the teacher to better understand what level the student is at and then can implement strategies like scaffolding, RTI (response to intervention), differentiated instruction. IBL & PBL (Inquiry and Project Based Learning) to allow the students to excel. These are great ways of implementing higher levels of blooms taxonomy and challenging all students, and not only those students who are gifted and talented. This is a challenge, but is necessary to meet the needs of all students, which will help them in the future. Informative Assessment is a strength of mine that can greatly benefit the students. Watching them complete exercises and critiquing their form, effort, attitude, etc. allows for communication between the student and myself to let the student know where I currently see them at and how they can improve.
